Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Friday night detained a woman along with 57 gold bars, weighing 9.2 kilogrammes, from Sadipur border area of Benapole in Jashore.

The arrestee is Banesa Khatun, 35, wife of Dukhu Mia of Sadipur village.

Lt Colonel Selim Reza, commanding officer of 49 BGB Battalion, said tipped off that a consignment of gold is being smuggled to India through the border, a patrol team of Benapole BGB raided Banesa's home and arrested her along with 57 gold bars.
