Ctg reporters attacked on duty; journalists demand justice
They demanded that the attackers be arrested within 24 hours and brought to justice.

Journalists in Chattogram staged a protest on Sunday (5 October) condemning a violent attack on Ekhon TV's bureau chief and cameraperson while they were covering a news story in the city's Jungle Salimpur area.
The demonstration, organised by the Chattogram Television Reporters Network (CTRN), was held in front of the Chattogram Press Club in the afternoon. Journalists from various media outlets expressed outrage over what they termed a deliberate attempt to silence the media through intimidation.
Earlier in the day, Ekhon TV's Chattogram Bureau Chief Hossain Ziad and Cameraperson Md Parvez came under attack while reporting on a clash between two local groups in Sitakunda's Jungle Salimpur area, which left one person dead.
Speakers at the protest said that "attacks on journalists are nothing but an effort to stifle the voice of the press." They demanded that the attackers be arrested within 24 hours and brought to justice.
They further noted that journalists regularly expose irregularities, corruption, and social injustices, often risking their safety. "Repeated assaults on journalists in Jungle Salimpur show that a powerful group is trying to intimidate the media and suppress the truth," one speaker said.
From the protest, journalists also urged authorities to ensure the safety of media workers and to take effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
