Dhaka Bank, BFIU conduct anti-money laundering training in Sylhet

A day-long Lead Bank Training Programme on "Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML & CFT)" was recently held in Sylhet District.
The programme was organised under the initiative of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), with Dhaka Bank PLC as the Lead Bank.
Hosted at Rose View Hotel, the event brought together 130 senior officials from 40 scheduled banks operating in Sylhet District.
Md Mofizur Rahman Khan Chowdhury, Executive Director and Acting Head of BFIU, attended the opening ceremony as Chief Guest, while A K M Shahnawaj, Managing Director (Current Charge) of Dhaka Bank PLC, was present as Special Guest. The programme was chaired by A M M Moyen Uddin, Deputy Managing Director and CAMLCO of Dhaka Bank.
Senior officials including Md Mahbubur Rahman, Member of Central Compliance Committee; Md Shaheenul Islam, In-Charge of AML & CFT Division; and Fazle Ahmed Rabbi, Senior Manager of Uposhahar Branch, were also present.
Expert resource persons from BFIU — Md Rezwanur Rahman, Additional Director; Md Rokon-Uz-Zaman, Joint Director; and Rajib Hassan, Joint Director — conducted the training sessions.
The sessions covered AML and CFT regulations, KYC and CDD procedures, trade-based money laundering prevention, and emerging threats such as hundi, online gaming, betting, cryptocurrency, and agent banking transactions.
Participants also took part in a quiz competition via Google Form, with the top ten performers receiving awards. Certificates of participation were distributed among all attendees at the closing ceremony.
