UNOPS Bangladesh hosts 17th SDG Café on AI for sustainable development

UNOPS Bangladesh has hosted the 17th edition of its flagship SDG Café series, titled "Innovating with Purpose: Unlocking AI for Agenda 2030 Success." The event brought together stakeholders to explore the role of artificial intelligence in accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Held at the UNOPS Bangladesh office in Gulshan, the forum featured a keynote address by Dr Syed Muntasir Mamun, Chief Innovation Officer and Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His session highlighted scalable AI solutions to address challenges in climate resilience, agriculture and healthcare in Bangladesh.
Sudhir Muralidharan, UNOPS Country Manager for Bangladesh, stressed the organisation's commitment to "implementation with impact", leveraging innovation for sustainable infrastructure and inclusive solutions.
Charles Callanan, UNOPS Director for South Asia, said the agency is acting as a bridge-builder to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration for the responsible and ethical deployment of AI. He urged participants to translate dialogue into pilot projects that deliver tangible benefits for communities.
The event convened government officials, private sector leaders, tech innovators, academia and development partners, fostering a collaborative ecosystem for AI-driven development in Bangladesh. It served as a catalyst for building a shared vision where AI acts as an ethical force to accelerate Agenda 2030.
