BBA signs contract with Anchor Soil–AC JV for Padma Bridge facilities

Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) has signed an agreement with Anchor Soil–AC JV to construct a bus-bay, passenger shelter and foot overbridge at the Jazira end of the Padma Bridge.
The signing ceremony was held at the BBA conference room. Mst Momtaz Begum, secretary (in routine charge) of the Bridges Division, attended as chief guest. BBA's chief engineer Kazi Md Ferdaus signed the contract on behalf of the authority, while director Md Masud Rana signed for Anchor Soil–AC JV.
The chief guest noted that the absence of a bus station and foot overbridge currently forces passengers to cross the busy road by running or walking, creating serious risks of accidents. She stressed the importance of the new facilities for ensuring passenger safety, and directed timely completion with proper design and quality standards.
Senior officials of the Bridges Division, BBA, and representatives of the contractor were present.
The Tk27.12 crore contract (Tk27,12,58,595.55) requires completion within 18 months. Once completed, the facilities are expected to ease passenger suffering, with the foot overbridge playing a vital role in safe pedestrian movement at the Padma Bridge's Jazira end.
