Biman flight returns to Dhaka after failing to land in Kathmandu
The flight, carrying 114 passengers, departed from Dhaka at 12:30pm and reached Kathmandu airspace on time. However, it was not allowed to land

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Dhaka to Kathmandu returned without landing today (9 September) after being denied permission by Nepal's Civil Aviation Authority.
The flight, carrying 114 passengers, departed from Dhaka at 12:30pm and reached Kathmandu airspace on time. However, it was not allowed to land.
Rawshan Kabir, spokesperson for Biman, told The Business Standard, "Although our flight reached Kathmandu's airspace, it could not land because it did not get permission from Nepal's Civil Aviation. There might have been a security concern there. The flight later left for Dhaka again."
Meanwhile, the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authorities issued a notice stating that another scheduled flight for today, Himalaya Airlines (H9), has been cancelled.
Notably, violent protests, sparked by a social media ban, erupted in Nepal today as police clashed with anti-corruption demonstrators.
Following the incident, Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu issued an urgent notice advising Bangladeshi nationals in Nepal to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement.
The embassy also urged Bangladeshis and inbound passengers to avoid travelling to Nepal for the time being due to the prevailing security situation.
