Former senior secretary NM Ziaul shown arrested in teenager murder case
He was already in jail in a separate case, and the judge granted the police's application to show him arrested in the new case

Former ICT Division senior secretary NM Ziaul Alam has been shown arrested in connection with the murder of a teenager named Md Rustom during the July Uprising.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Israt Jenifar Jerin issued the order today (1 September), formally showing him arrested in the case.
The former senior secretary, who was already in jail in a separate case, was produced before the court, and the judge granted the police's application to show him arrested in the new case.
He was subsequently sent back to jail.
According to the case documents, the victim, Md Rustom, was participating in a protest on 19 July near the Shah Ali Plaza in Mirpur-10 area under the Kafrul Police Station.
He was injured by a bullet allegedly fired by miscreants and was taken to a hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. The victim's family filed a murder case with the Kafrul Police Station.
Previously, Ziaul Alam was shown arrested in a separate case filed at the same police station on 2 July.
In that case, he was accused of involvement in the death of Md Atikul Islam, who was also shot on 19 July last year during another demonstration.
