Ducsu polls: 509 nomination papers submitted, 1,109 for hall unions
Chief Returning Officer Professor Md Jashim Uddin announced the figures at a press conference at the Senate Bhaban today (20 August).

The deadline for submitting nomination papers for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) election has ended, with 509 students filing nominations for 28 posts, out of the 658 forms distributed.
Chief Returning Officer Professor Dr Md Jashim Uddin announced the figures at a press conference at the Senate Bhaban today (20 August).
He said, "By yesterday, we had distributed 658 nomination forms. As of this afternoon, 509 nomination papers have been submitted, while 149 were not returned. The number of candidates for each post will be known after scrutiny."
He also mentioned that a complaint was received regarding one hall, and an inquiry committee had submitted its report, which will be reviewed in a meeting later in the evening.
Meanwhile, in the hall union elections across 18 residential halls, a total of 1,109 nomination papers have been submitted, out of 1,427 distributed forms, leaving 318 unreturned, according to the university's Public Relations Office.
Hall-wise submissions include Shahidullah Hall (70), Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall (31), Salimullah Muslim Hall (62), Jagannath Hall (59), Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall (65), Sgt Jahurul Huq Hall (81), Rokeya Hall (45), Surya Sen Hall (79), Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall (65), Shamsunnahar Hall (36), Jasimuddin Hall (70), Ziaur Rahman Hall (78), Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall (68), Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall (36), Amar Ekushey Hall (81), Sufia Kamal Hall (40), Bijoy Ekattor Hall (76), and Sir AF Rahman Hall (67).
