Student-people launch 'Barishal Blockade' demanding health sector reform
Protester Riazul Islam affirmed that they would not stop their movement until comprehensive reforms were made to the health sector

Students and the public have initiated a 'Barishal Blockade' programme to protest against mismanagement and patient suffering in the country's healthcare sector.
The blockade, an escalation of a 10-day-long agitation, began at around 11:30am today (7 August) at the Nathullabad intersection of the city.
Protesters chanted slogans such as "Discrimination in the health sector will not be accepted," "Break the syndicate," and "End public suffering at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMC)."
Activist and organiser Mohiuddin Roni stated that people are not receiving proper treatment at government hospitals due to a powerful "syndicate" that must be dismantled.
He claimed that after 10 days of protesting, they (agitators) were forced to blockade the city because the ministry was not listening to their demands.
The protest drew students from various educational institutions, including Government Brojomohun College, Barishal University, Syed Hatem Ali College, and Barishal Polytechnic Institute, along with affected patients and their relatives.
