Heidelberg Materials Bangladesh posts 47% profit decline in H1
During the January to June period, its sales also dropped by 6.41% to Tk769.15 crore, lower from Tk821.89 crore during the same period of the previous year.
Heidelberg Materials Bangladesh, a multinational cement manufacturer, reported that its net profit dropped by 47% year-on-year to Tk22.30 crore in the first half of 2025, ending in June.
During the January to June period, its sales also dropped by 6.41% to Tk769.15 crore, lower from Tk821.89 crore during the same period of the previous year.
The German-based cement manufacturer disclosed the financial statement, which was approved in the board meeting held on 24 April, its officials said.
At the end of half year, its earnings per share (EPS) declined to Tk3.95, which was Tk7.45 in the January to June period of 2024.
While in the second quarter during April to June period, its sales declined by 0.47% to Tk339.89 crore, and net profit declined by 5% to Tk2.65 crore, which was Tk341.18 crore and Tk2.79 crore respectively.
Its previous financials report stated that its profit declined by 50% in the first quarter during the January to March quarter as its revenue significantly declined.
On that quarter, it posted a profit of Tk19.65 crore, which was significantly lower than Tk39.32 crore in the same quarter previous year. Also, its revenue dropped by 11% to Tk429.58 crore compared to the previous year same quarter.
At the end of the first quarter, its earnings per share stood at Tk3.48.
Meanwhile, on 16 June, the shareholders of the company approved its board recommended 25% cash dividend for the year 2024. It had paid the same dividend in 2023.
On Thursday, its shares closed at Tk254.20, which was 4.94% lower than the previous year at the Dhaka Stock Exchange- DSE.
The company got listed on the Dhaka bourse in 1989 as Chittagong Cement Clinkers Grinder, which was later acquired by HeidelbergCement, currently renamed as Heidelberg Materials.
