A legal notice has been issued to the authorities concerned to arrange interviews at the newly-formed Supreme Judicial Appointment Council for the additional High Court judge aspirants who have already submitted applications, but have yet to be called for interviews.

The legal notice, issued today by Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Mahdi Jaman Bonny and Advocate Moshiur Rahman, stated that a total of 300 applications has been filed for the post of additional High Court judge following the publication of a relevant public notice.

However, of the 300 applicants, only 53 have been interviewed so far, it said.

In the legal notice, the authorities concerned have been asked to arrange interviews for the remaining applicants within the next three days.

The law secretary, Supreme Court registrar and Supreme Judicial Appointment Council secretary have been made respondents to the notice.

This is the first time in the country's history that High Court judges are being recruited through interviewing.

Interviews were conducted by the Supreme Judicial Appointment Council, headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, on 18 July.
