CUET hosts ‘MIE Industrial Tech Carnival-2025’

The Department of Mechatronics and Industrial Engineering (MIE) of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), in collaboration with Southern IoT Limited, hosted the two-day "MIE Industrial Tech Carnival-2025" on July 17–18.
The event began on Thursday with the "Industrial Techathon" at the CUET IT Business Incubator at 9:00 AM. Later that day, a seminar titled "Industry 4.0 for Garments" took place, drawing industry and academic leaders for discussions on the future of automation and smart manufacturing in the RMG sector.
Professor Dr Sudip Kumar Pal, Hon'ble Acting Vice-Chancellor of CUET, was present as the chief guest. The seminar was also attended by special guests Professor Dr Kazi Afzalur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, and Rakib Quader Chowdhury, CEO of Southern IoT Limited. Md Ariful Islam, CTO and Head of Research & Development at Southern IoT Limited, delivered the keynote address.
Professor Dr Prasanjit Das, Head of the MIE Department, chaired the programme, while Assistant Professor Dr Humayun Kabir gave the welcome address. The session was moderated by students Wasima Nur Iqra and Ankan De Animesh of the MIE 21 batch.
On Friday, July 18, Southern IoT Limited hosted a virtual job fair for graduates of CUET's MIE, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering departments. The fair, held from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, aimed to connect top graduates with immediate employment opportunities in the tech and manufacturing sectors.
The carnival also featured a hands-on technical problem-solving contest based on real-world industrial challenges, along with industry-oriented seminars, networking sessions, an award ceremony for competition winners, and a farewell for outgoing MIE students.
