The Department of Mechatronics and Industrial Engineering (MIE) of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), in collaboration with Southern IoT Limited, hosted the two-day "MIE Industrial Tech Carnival-2025" on July 17–18.

The event began on Thursday with the "Industrial Techathon" at the CUET IT Business Incubator at 9:00 AM. Later that day, a seminar titled "Industry 4.0 for Garments" took place, drawing industry and academic leaders for discussions on the future of automation and smart manufacturing in the RMG sector.

Professor Dr Sudip Kumar Pal, Hon'ble Acting Vice-Chancellor of CUET, was present as the chief guest. The seminar was also attended by special guests Professor Dr Kazi Afzalur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, and Rakib Quader Chowdhury, CEO of Southern IoT Limited. On Friday, July 18, Southern IoT Limited hosted a virtual job fair for graduates of CUET's MIE, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering departments. The fair, held from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, aimed to connect top graduates with immediate employment opportunities in the tech and manufacturing sectors.

The carnival also featured a hands-on technical problem-solving contest based on real-world industrial challenges, along with industry-oriented seminars, networking sessions, an award ceremony for competition winners, and a farewell for outgoing MIE students.

Southern IoT Limited was the event sponsor, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing young engineering talent and bridging the gap between academia and industry.
