How effective will the US Patriot missile system be in deterring a Russian attack?

US President Donald Trump has announced that more Patriot air defense systems will be sent to Ukraine. He made the announcement after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House on July 14. Ukraine is quite optimistic about Trump's decision. However, analysts say that this U-turn by the US president may stop some Russian attacks. But it will not be a warning to Putin.
