BUET and Singer Bangladesh ink partnership to foster innovation

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singer Bangladesh Limited to foster collaboration in research and development, talent grooming, and innovation.
The agreement, signed on July 12, 2025, at the Office of the Vice Chancellor, aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry through joint research projects, knowledge-sharing sessions, internship placements, job referrals, and active participation in job fairs.
Present at the ceremony were BUET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr A B M Badruzzaman; Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr A Hasib Chowdhury; and Prof Dr Mohammad Shariful Islam, Director of BUET's Research and Innovation Centre for Science and Engineering.
Singer Bangladesh was represented by its Managing Director and CEO, M H M Fairoz; Director – Human Resources, Syed Zahidul Islam; and Director – Factory, Hakan Altınışık. Senior officials from both institutions were also present.
The MoU marks a significant step towards nurturing future-ready professionals by creating real-world learning opportunities for BUET students, while also helping Singer tap into the country's top engineering talent pool.
"This partnership will unlock mutual benefits for both academia and industry. Our students will gain hands-on experience in solving real industrial problems, while Singer will have access to cutting-edge research and a skilled talent pipeline," said Prof Dr A B M Badruzzaman.
Echoing the sentiment, M H M Fairoz said, "We're proud to join hands with BUET, one of the nation's most respected academic institutions. This collaboration is an investment in innovation and the future workforce of Bangladesh."
The MoU is expected to accelerate R&D initiatives, foster a culture of applied innovation, and enhance job readiness among engineering graduates. It also aligns with national priorities to strengthen industry-academia cooperation and build a more resilient, innovation-driven economy.
