The Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) hosted a Career Talk as part of its event, Cascade 1.0.

Held at the IT Business Incubator Auditorium at Cuet on Friday, the event ran from 4pm to 8:30pm. A total of 140 students participated in it.

Aimed at preparing engineering students for the professional world by connecting them with industry leaders.

The session was presided over by ASME Cuet President Anurag Nandi, with Abrar Azmain and Ayman Sadia moderating the event.

The session featured a distinguished panel of industry professionals, including Mohammad Waheduzzaman, head of Human Resources at KSRM; A.K.M. Saiful Islam, regional manager of ESAB Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd.; Utsha Ghosh Dipta, product head of LCV at Bangladesh Ashok Leyland Ltd; Apu Debnath, senior engineer at BSRM Steel Melting 1; and Md. Asif Al Ararat, maintenance officer at Reckitt.

Speaking on the importance of soft skills, Mohammad Waheduzzaman emphasised, "Since fresh graduates lack prior work experience, soft skills matter significantly in the job market."

Throughout the session, speakers offered guidance on navigating the early stages of a career, adapting to industry trends, and aligning academic learning with real-world demands. Attendees were encouraged to engage in meaningful conversations and expand their professional networks.
