The Council of Advisers, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, convened today (10 July) at the Chief Adviser's Office in Tejgaon to assess the ongoing flood and waterlogging crisis in Feni and Noakhali districts, triggered by recent heavy rainfall.
Advisers from relevant ministries briefed the meeting on their respective responses and outlined necessary actions to mitigate the impact of the disaster.
Discussions focused on key infrastructure needs, including finalising the designs for the Musapur Regulator and Bamni Closure, advancing the permanent dam construction project in Feni, and clearing blocked canals and drainage systems in Noakhali.
The council was informed that World Bank-funded repairs of damaged embankments, riverbank protection works, and water control structures are currently in progress in both districts.
Additionally, the Ministry of Relief and Rehabilitation and local administration outlined the relief measures implemented so far.
