Wear your comfort

The pressure is to stay cool (literally!), fashionable, and at the same time, uphold your uniqueness.

Summer in Bangladesh lasts longer than other countries. In fact, other than the one or two cold waves in December and January, the temperature remains warm throughout the year.

That being said, wearing weather-appropriate cloth every day is a hassle, especially when you have to run against time during rush hours.

The pressure is to stay cool (literally!), fashionable, and at the same time, uphold your uniqueness.

Wearhouse, an online based clothing brand, comes as a rescuer in these contexts which makes colourful, block printed trendy clothes for women using cotton, linen, khadi, silk and georgette fabric.

"While designing my own clothes, comfort and fashion are two of my top priorities. That's essentially the theme of Wearhouse," said Tasnim Ferdous, owner and designer of Wearhouse.

After completing her graduation in architecture from BRAC University, Tasnim, who always wanted to do something on her own, started her career differently.

Her self-designed, simple yet elegantly hand painted, dresses caught the attention of her colleagues and friends.

"Their positive words would inspire me every day and thus I finally decided to design clothes for others," said Tasnim.

And so Wearhouse started its journey in 2015. The page has reached more than 61,000 in community on Facebook.
Besides their most popular two-sided kotis (sleeveless shrugs), their straight cut and round cut kurtis are also popular among buyers. Although not very frequently, Wearhouse also custom makes cotton and silk sarees.

"I try to align my own preferences about clothes with my clients' demands. It helps me choose materials, select colours and also fix prices," added Tasnim.

Fixing the price is an interesting thing because they are fixed according to the suggestions of the customers.

For example, after designing a particular dress, its pictures are uploaded on the Wearhouse Facebook page.

Suggestions for a price are then asked along with it. Based on the many suggestions, Tasnim decides on a price. The range begins from BDT 900 and increases based on material and design.

Wearhouse is currently working only with bright colours. "For now we are making our products as colourful as possible. People are really liking our dazzling shrugs and kurtis," said Tasnim.

Fans of this brand have something to be excited about because the young designer is planning to work with ethnic prints and to tone down colours in her future works.

As a designer, Tasnim is fond of working with unusual block prints which is one of the reasons behind her brand's popularity.

Fusion clothes such as jump suits with shrugs, quirky and fun prints like ice lollies, sage leaves and water lily pads, make this brand stand out from the crowd.

Cotton is Wearhouse's first choice of materials and 80% of its clothes are made from cotton.

Wearhouse has not yet opened an outlet and delivers its products from a pickup point in Ring road, Mohammadpur.
