The Bangladesh women's football team made history on Wednesday by qualifying for the AFC Women's Asian Cup for the first time, following a remarkable 2-1 victory over a significantly higher-ranked Myanmar side at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.
The crucial win greatly enhanced Bangladesh's prospects of progressing, but their qualification was only confirmed later in the day, after Turkmenistan and Bahrain played out a 2-2 draw.
Bangladesh now sit at the top of Group C with six points from their two wins against Bahrain and Myanmar. They will play their final group match against Turkmenistan at the same venue on Saturday.
