Bangladesh off to flying start with 7-0 rout of Bahrain

Bangladesh began their AFC Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers campaign in emphatic fashion, cruising to a 7-0 victory over Group C rivals Bahrain, once again demonstrating that their modest FIFA ranking of 128 belies their true quality.
Peter Butler's side took control from the outset, dictating the tempo with sharp passing and composed build-up play against a physically stronger Bahrain team, who are ranked 36 places higher.
The women in red and green netted five times in a dominant first-half performance. Although they eased off slightly in the second half, they still managed to add two more goals while maintaining a clean sheet.
Tohura Khatun scored twice, with Shamsunnahar Junior, Ritu Porna Chakma, Kohati Kisku, and Munki Akter each adding a goal. The seventh came courtesy of an own goal by Bahrain.
The comprehensive victory sets Butler's team up well for their pivotal second match against group favourites Myanmar, who are ranked 55th in the world and defeated Turkmenistan (141) in the group's opening fixture.
