The National Citizen Party (NCP) has expressed solidarity with Islami Andolan Bangladesh during a massive national rally attended by thousands in Dhaka, the party's Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam said today (28 June).

In a Facebook post, the NCP leader reiterated that there can be no compromise on the issues of justice and fundamental reforms prior to the upcoming national election.

He wrote, "Expression of solidarity by the NCP with the Islami Andolan Bangladesh's national mass rally of hundreds of thousands…No compromise on justice and fundamental reforms before the election."

At the rally in Suhrawardy Udyan, Islami Andolan Bangladesh placed a 16-point declaration demanding state reforms, justice, proportional representation (PR) system and strong resistance against all anti-state and anti-Islam conspiracies.

The meeting was presided over by the Ameer of the Islami Andolan Bangladesh Mufti Rezaul Karim.

Their demands also include restoring the principle of "absolute trust and faith in Almighty Allah" in the constitution as a fundamental state principle alongside equality, human dignity and social justice.
