Haaland reaches 300 career goals faster than Messi, Ronaldo and Mbappe

Erling Haaland scored for Manchester City last night as they thrashed Juventus in the Club World Cup. In the 52nd minute, the Norwegian striker received a pass from Matheus Nunes and finished from close range to put City 3–1 ahead.

With that goal, Haaland not only helped his team on their way to a big victory but also reached a new milestone. It was his 300th career goal. In doing so, the 24-year-old surpassed stars like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kylian Mbappe in one particular area.

The goal against Juventus was Haaland's 123rd for Manchester City in 145 matches. Overall, he has scored 300 goals in 370 matches. Apart from City, he scored the rest playing for Molde, Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, and the Norway national team. Of his 300 goals, 258 have come for clubs and 42 for his country.

In reaching 300 goals, Haaland needed fewer matches than Mbappe, Messi, or Ronaldo. Ronaldo took 554 matches to reach 300 goals, Messi needed 418 matches, and Mbappe reached the mark in 409 matches. Haaland has done it in just 370 matches, meaning he needed 39 fewer games than Mbappe, 48 fewer than Messi, and 184 fewer than Ronaldo.

According to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), Haaland is the second-youngest player to reach 300 goals in the 21st century. He achieved the milestone at the age of 24 years and 340 days. Mbappe remains the youngest, having reached 300 goals at 24 years and 333 days.
