Five Covid-19 deaths reported in 24 hours, 36 new cases detected

This year, 433 people have contracted Covid-19 in Bangladesh, with 16 deaths — 13 of which occurred in the first 22 days of June

Bangladesh reported five more deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours till 8am today (22 June). 

Besides, 36 more people tested positive for the virus during the same period, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) shared this information in a press release this afternoon.

According to the press release, a total of 621 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 5.8%.

Among the five who died, four were men and one was a woman. One was aged between 11-20 years, one between 41-50 years, one between 61-70 years, one between 71-80 years, and one between 91-100 years.

Of the deceased, one was from Dhaka, three from Chattogram, and one from Rajshahi division. One died while receiving treatment at a government hospital, and the remaining four at private hospitals.

This year, 433 people have contracted Covid-19 in Bangladesh, with 16 deaths — 13 of which occurred in the first 22 days of June.

As per the DGHS data, a total of 29,515 people have died from Covid-19 in Bangladesh so far. 

So far, 2,051,978 cases have been confirmed in the country.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March 2020 and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March 2020.
