The Akhaura-bound Titas Commuter train travelled approximately eight kilometres in darkness last night (21 June) after its engine's headlight failed, relying on mobile phone torchlights to move forward slowly.

The incident occurred between Talshahar and Brahmanbaria railway stations, causing significant disruption and passenger discomfort.

According to railway sources, the Titas Commuter departed Ashuganj Railway Station at 8:48pm, 15 minutes behind schedule. While passing through Talshahar Railway Station, the train developed an engine fault, and shortly afterwards, its headlight stopped functioning.

Despite the malfunction, the train continued towards Brahmanbaria Station, covering about eight kilometres with the help of mobile phone torches held by railway staff.

The journey took roughly an hour, with the train proceeding cautiously while blowing the horn repeatedly.

Passengers on board experienced inconvenience due to the extended delay and the unusual circumstances.

Jasim Uddin, station master at Brahmanbaria Railway Station, confirmed the incident and said, "Due to an engine fault, a replacement engine was brought from Akhaura to take the Titas Commuter to its destination."
