Leaders of the Real Estate & Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) held a meeting with Shahjahan Mia, managing director of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa), to address ongoing issues related to billing harassment and the absence of a proper water tariff structure for under-construction buildings.

The meeting took place at Wasa's Karwan Bazar office today (21 June), according to a press release.

The REHAB delegation was led by its President Md Wahiduzzaman and included Senior Vice President Liaquat Ali Bhuiyan, Vice President Abdul Latif, and Director Md Ayub Ali.

During the meeting, REHAB raised five key concerns, including lack of a construction-specific tariff, unjust sewerage charges during construction, harassment in reclassifying water usage post-construction, poor quality of water meters, and corruption and unjust billing in areas without Wasa connection.

Wasa MD Shahjahan Mia assured the REHAB delegation that their demands would be included in the agenda of the next Wasa board meeting.

He also promised that any additional issues would be discussed and resolved through dialogue between a senior Wasa official and a REHAB representative.
