Ctg reports second Covid-19 death this year, six more test positive
The deceased has been identified as Fazilatunnesa, 71, from city’s Bakalia area
Chattogram has reported its second death due to Covid-19 this year, with six new cases in the past 24 hours, according to the latest update from the Chattogram Civil Surgeon's office.
With the new cases, the total number of infections in the district has risen to 62.
The deceased has been identified as Fazilatunnesa, 71, from city's Bakalia area.
Speaking to The Business Standard today (21 June), Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Jahangir Alam, said, "Fazilatunnesa had been undergoing treatment in the ICU of Chattogram General Hospital and passed away yesterday evening."
"She had been suffering from lung cancer. After testing Covid-positive three days ago, she was transferred from Parkview Hospital to the general hospital for advanced treatment," he added.
This year, the district recorded its first Covid-19 fatality on 16 June, when 75-year-old Shafiul Islam from Jorarganj in Mirsarai upazila died. He was suffering from post-surgical complications and kidney disease.
Meanwhile, six new cases were identified after testing 71 samples across six laboratories in Chattogram today. Among the new cases, one was diagnosed at Chattogram Medical College lab, three at Chevron lab, and two at Epic Healthcare lab.
