Ctg police issue safety guidelines as 10-day Eid-ul-Adha holiday begins

As the ten-day Eid-ul-Adha holiday begins across the country, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) have issued a set of detailed safety instructions to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for city residents during the celebrations.

In a press release issued on Thursday evening (5 June), the CMP outlined comprehensive guidelines for residents, advising increased vigilance and cooperation to maintain law and order during the holiday period.

According to the statement, the CMP has taken all necessary security measures for residential areas, institutions, and commercial establishments to facilitate a festive and safe Eid for everyone.

The following directives for public safety during Eid state that all vehicles transporting sacrificial animals must load and unload only at designated locations.

All cattle market visitors must remain alert against pickpockets, scam gangs, and counterfeit currency.

Animal sellers are instructed to deposit their earnings in banks and use police-approved money escort services when carrying large sums.

Any incident of extortion at markets or during transport must be reported immediately to the nearest police station.

Those purchasing animals online must exercise caution and verify sellers to avoid fraud.

Citizens must not slaughter animals on roads, and only city corporation or neighborhood-designated slaughtering spots.

Full cooperation with city waste removal efforts is required to maintain cleanliness.

Security personnel at homes, offices, banks, and malls must remain vigilant and ensure round-the-clock surveillance.

Institutions must control staff leave to maintain operational supervision during the holidays.

Before leaving home, residents must securely lock all doors and windows. Use multiple locks or install auto-locks and alarms.

All residences, shops, and institutions must have working CCTV cameras and adequate lighting, especially at night.

Valuables and important documents must be stored in secure places.

Residents must inform trusted neighbours and landlords before leaving. Security staff must deny entry to unauthorised individuals.

Vehicle garages must be secured, and tree branches near windows must be trimmed to prevent break-ins.

Any suspicious individuals or activities must be reported immediately to the local police station or outpost.

Reckless driving during Eid holidays is strictly discouraged. All drivers must follow traffic rules to avoid fatal accidents.
