The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Mohiuddin Rakib (26) from Golakpur in Gachhibari, Tazumuddin upazila of Bhola; Mohammad Billal Hossain (34) from the Pilkhana area under Panchlaish Police Station in Chattogram city; Mohammad Hasan (32), a resident of Boubazar area under Bakalia Police Station; Morshed Alam (26) from Chaliakandi in Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla district; and Abu Rayhan (39) from Khamar Hati area in Purbadhala upazila of Netrokona.

The recovery took place during a series of raids conducted from Sunday (1 June) night to Monday (2 June) afternoon in Chattogram's Bayezid and Panchlaish areas, as well as in Narayanganj.

Authorities also seized a covered van used to transport the stolen goods.

According to police, the incident occurred on the evening of 29 May, between 4:00pm and 8:00pm, at the warehouse of Purna Fashion Limited, located in the Shah-Noor Market area of Panchlaish.

Police also said the theft was pre-planned and executed by three factory officials: Cutting Manager Nur Nabi, Store Manager Saimum Islam, and Assistant Storekeeper Mohiuddin Rakib.

They coordinated the theft and arranged for the stolen fabric to be transported in two phases by a mini covered van to storage locations in Bayezid and Narayanganj.

The investigation began with the arrest of Mohiuddin Rakib from the Atura Depot area.

Based on information provided during his interrogation, police arrested Billal Hossain from the Pilkhana area and Mohammad Hasan from Banglabazar, recovering the covered van used in the operation. Subsequent investigations led police to a warehouse of BD Jute Fashion Limited, where they arrested two more suspects, Morshed Alam and Abu Rayhan.

Police recovered 64 rolls of fabric from Bayezid and an additional 59 rolls from a warehouse belonging to a business named Mohammad Traders in Narayanganj.

Panchlaish OC Mohammad Solaiman said a case has been filed on charges of theft and aiding theft.

He added that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the crime ring.
