Retired Armed Forces Officers' Welfare Association (RAOWA) has demanded a fair trial for Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan through Speedy Trial Tribunal and execution of the culprits within three months.

Major (retd) Khandaker Nurul Afsar, chairman of the association, made the demand at a press conference held at Raowa's Helmet Hall in Mohakhali on Wednesday.

At the press conference, he said all the accused involved in Major Sinha murder must be arrested and sent to jail. People whose involvement will be found during the investigation must be arrested, he added.

The association also demanded speedy completion of the investigation and submission of the charge sheet without delay.

The other demands include immediate withdrawal of the superintendent of police in Cox's Bazar, taking legal action against him for misrepresenting the incident and leaking information to the media, taking legal action for filing two fictitious cases against Sifat -- the only witness of the incident, arresting Officer in Charge Prodeep and sending him to jail, and ensuring safety of all witnesses including witness Sifat and the truck driver.

A separate ministry (Veteran Ministry) similar to the one in different countries of the world will have to be formed to ensure the overall support of retired members of the armed forces to have a safe and dignified life, the association also demanded.

Major (retd) Khandaker Nurul Afsar said, "If our demands are not met we will be forced to take to the streets."

Major (retired) Sinha was shot dead in police firing on Cox's Bazar Marine drive in Teknaf upazila on July 31.
