'July Oikya' fumes at Ctg rally over domestic, foreign plots to foil uprising ambitions
Conspiracies are being hatched both domestically and internationally to thwart the ambitions of the July Movement, leaders and supporters of the Chattogram chapter of "July Oikya", a coalition of 80 organisations, have alleged.
At a rally today in the port city in protest against what was described as "Indian chauvinism in Bangladesh and plots to destroy political unity", they also alleged that major political parties, to protect their interests, are preventing Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus from governing properly.
After Jumma prayers, the protesters marched from the Southern Gate of Anderkilla Shahi Jame Mosque through Cheragi Hills intersection to Chittagong Press Club in Jamal Khan area.

After the protest march, a rally was held in front of the press club.
"Conspiracies are being hatched in various forms in and outside the country to systematically destroy the July movement that cost the lives of 1,400 people and the amputation of 30,000 others," said Abrar Hasan Riyad, chief coordinator of July Oikya Chattogram.
He claimed that masterminded by the Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), a force is working from within Bangladesh and outside the country to exploit the power of the July Revolution.
Riyad also warned that if any excuse is made regarding the July proclamation, the student community will once again heat up the streets like they did in July 2024.
Rashedul Alam, senior joint member secretary of Chattogram metropolitan Students Against Discrimination, said any plan to render the interim government ineffective will not be tolerated.
He urged all political parties and the public to unite, saying, "Otherwise, the country will fall into India's hands again."
Zubayer Manik, a central member of the NCP, said the party wants parliamentary elections to be held only after ensuring justice for the people martyred and injured during the July movement, and after implementing state reforms.
He said there is no visible progress regarding trial for the July Movement killings and reforms.
The NCP leaders also urged the government to clarify its claim that it is currently under pressure and is facing conspiracies.
