Algeria to export animal proteins to Bangladesh
In a move to deepen bilateral trade ties, Algeria is set to export animal proteins to Bangladesh to support the development of the latter's growing livestock industry.
Bangladesh's livestock sector has witnessed significant growth over the past two decades, bolstered by consistent government support. To strengthen this progress, an export contract has been signed between Algeria's Balat Brothers Slaughterhouse Company and Bangladesh's Ashta Feed Industries Limited.
According to the Algerian Embassy in Dhaka, the annual export value under this agreement is expected to reach $3.5 million.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Algerian Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Professor Kamal Rezig. Lakhdar Balat, General Manager of the Balat Group, and Mosharaf Hossain Chowdhury, Chairman of Ashta Feed Industries Limited, signed the agreement, which is initially valued at $1.2 million.
Balat Brothers Slaughterhouse Company had earlier exported $2.5 million worth of animal protein products to Bangladesh over the last three years.
