NBR officials seek resolution through dialogue as pen-down strike disrupts operations
The ongoing pen-down strike will continue tomorrow
Revenue activities, including import and export operations, are being disrupted due to an ongoing pen-down protest against the abolition of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), which was allegedly done in disregard of the reform committee's recommendations.
The agitating officials have announced that the strike will continue tomorrow (18 May) for six hours from 9am to 3pm.
At a press conference held today (17 May), the 'NBR Reform Unity Parishad' called for resolving the ongoing deadlock through discussions.

They also urged the chief adviser to issue directives in this regard.
At the briefing, NBR Joint Commissioner of Customs Nipun Chakma, said, "We are waiting for the government to engage in dialogue with us, under the guidance of the chief adviser.
"The door for dialogue has always been open from our side, and it will remain so."
Md Asaduzzaman, joint commissioner of taxes, said, "We want the recommendations of the NBR Reform Committee to be published. We support reform, but it must be realistic, inclusive of stakeholder opinions, and must fully recognise the skills and experience of NBR officers and staff."
Revenue Officer (RO) Shahinul Haque Shahin and Hasnat Imam Sarker also spoke at the press conference.
