AL banned, but the struggle continues: Mahfuj
“History will not forgive us if we fail to establish a new political settlement,” he says

The Awami League's activities have been banned but the fight continues, Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam said today (12 May).
"The social fascism born out of authoritarian rule must be dismantled. We cannot allow the oppressed to become oppressors. Instead, we must stand firmly for justice and the rights of all," he said in a Facebook post this evening.
He further said, "History will not forgive us if we fail to establish a new political settlement for state-building and strong democratic institutions in an [Awami] League-free Bangladesh."
He stated that all forces supporting the July uprising must take visionary and pragmatic steps to rebuild the state.
"Ideological differences, electoral rivalry, and tensions are inevitable. Yet, in defence of the country's independence, unity, and sovereignty and in honour of the July mass uprising, we must remain united in the broader mass struggle, whether through joint or parallel efforts," the adviser said.
