Barrister Muhammad Mujibur Rahman has been elected unopposed as the new president and Advocate Mahmuda Chowdhury made history as the first woman elected general secretary of the Bangladesh Law Society UK, an organisation for former Law Department students of Dhaka University.

The organisation held its 12th annual conference and executive council election on Saturday in East London, according to a press release.

The conference, held under the chairmanship of the outgoing committee president Barrister Shibli Sadiq and under the guidance of the secretary Barrister Kazi Ashiqur Rahman, was attended by the current and former leaders and general members of the association, various professionals, media personalities and prominent people of the community from different cities of the United Kingdom. 

The election commission comprising Barrister Solicitor Nurul Amin, Advocate Sabera Ikram and Councillor Mohammad Saifur Rahman Chowdhury declared the election result.
