Close doors, windows around sunset to prevent dengue: Dhaka South administrator

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Md Shahjahan Mia has advised residents to keep their doors and windows closed for half an hour before and after Maghrib prayers during sunset as a preventive measure against Aedes mosquitoes during the upcoming dengue season.
Speaking at the 6th meeting of the DSCC Management Committee today (5 May), the administrator emphasised the corporation's continued commitment to prioritising public service and safeguarding citizens' health.
The meeting was attended by 25 members of the management committee, including representatives from various government bodies and organisations.

In other decisions, the committee approved a proposal to send a report to the Local Government Department seeking a re-evaluation of lease prices for the Fulbaria Stopover Bus Terminal and Dholaikhal Truck Terminal, following failure to secure expected bids.
The re-evaluation will be based on the 'Government Market Management, Lease System and Income Distribution Policy-2011'.
A one-time financial grant from the administrator's discretionary fund was also approved, along with the decision to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
The MoU aims to streamline five essential business start-up services into a single application process.
The meeting was also attended by DSCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Zillur Rahman, Secretary Mohammad Bashirul Haque Bhuiyan, and all department heads and regional executive officers.
