Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) plans to build Shaheed Mir Mugdho Park in Uttara following the eviction of illegal slums in the area, Rajuk Chairman Md Riazul Islam said today (2 May) during an inspection visit.

The chairman made the announcement after reviewing the current condition of Mugdho Mancha, a stage constructed in memory of Shaheed Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho, who was killed during the July 2024 movement.

"To preserve the memory of July, Mugdho Mancha will be presented in a more beautiful and meaningful way. I have given directions to the subordinate officials for this. Besides, after evicting and removing the illegal slums behind Mir Mugdho Mancha, there will be a plan to build Shaheed Mir Mugdho Park there," said the Rajuk Chairman.

His visit was part of Rajuk's regular activities aimed at making Dhaka a more liveable city.

During the inspection, the chairman visited several locations in the Uttara residential area, including Sectors 3, 10, and 12. He checked the current state of Rajuk-owned plots in these sectors and instructed officials to recover any that had been occupied illegally.

He also inspected local lakes and parks and directed the relevant authorities to improve cleanliness and maintain seating areas to create a pleasant environment for visitors.

The Rajuk chairman further visited several under-construction buildings to ensure compliance with Rajuk-approved designs.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the unauthorised use of public spaces, such as walkways, roads, and footpaths, for storing construction materials.

He instructed the immediate removal of these materials and ordered officials to take punitive action according to regulations.

Rajuk officials involved in the Uttara residential area were also present during the inspection.
