National Citizen Party (NCP) and Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) have come to an agreement on three issues, including local government elections, trial of the culprits involved in July killings and fundamental reforms, during a dialogue held today (30 April).

The dialogue, where issues regarding current political situations were discussed, was held at the central office of IAB in the capital, said an IAB press release.

The two political parties reached a consensus that local government elections should be held soon to reduce public suffering.

They also agree that the registration of Awami league should be put on hold during the trial of July-August killings.

They further called for holding the national election after completing fundamental reforms.

The two political parties also discussed constituent assembly elections and keeping proportional representation (PR) system in a bicameral parliament.

A liaison committee was also formed at the meeting for reforms and devising the political strategy for the future.

Led by NCP Convener Nahid Islam, several leaders of the party were present at the meeting, while the IAB delegation was led by the party's Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim.
