Islami Bank launches Eid remittance campaign

Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC launched its month-long Special Eid Remittance Campaign on 29 April 2025 at Islami Bank Tower. The campaign offers remitters the chance to win one of 12 freezers, with three awarded each week via a digital draw. Additionally, 50,000 remittance beneficiaries will receive backpacks from branches, sub-branches, and agent outlets.

The campaign was inaugurated by Mr Md Omar Faruk Khan, Managing Director (Current Charge) of Islami Bank, who served as the chief guest. Mr Md Altaf Hossain, Additional Managing Director, attended as a special guest. The event was presided over by Mr Md Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Managing Director, with speeches from senior bank officials, including Mr Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, Vice President and Head of Overseas Banking Division. The event was attended by senior executives from Western Union, along with key officials from Islami Bank's head office, branch zones, and sub-branches, many of whom participated virtually.

In his address, Mr Md Omar Faruk Khan highlighted the growing public confidence in Islami Bank, stressing that the bank is on a path to return to its former glory. He noted that one-fourth of the country's total remittance flows through Islami Bank and acknowledged the role Western Union has played in the bank's success. Since 2012, Islami Bank has partnered with Western Union to facilitate remittance collection. Mr Khan further set a target of collecting USD 2 billion in remittances through Western Union this year and urged all branches, sub-branches, and agent outlets to continue offering exemplary service.
