First Hajj flight from Bangladesh arrives in Saudi Arabia

The first Hajj flight of the year from Bangladesh arrived at the Hajj terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, at 7:30am today (29 April), carrying 414 pilgrims.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Md Delwar Hossain, welcomed the pilgrims at the airport, according to a press release from the embassy in Riyadh.

He was joined by Consul General of the Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah Mia Md Mainul Kabir, Counsellor of the Bangladesh Hajj Mission Md Zahirul Islam, and other officials.

Saudi officials, including Mazen Jawaher, advisor of the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority, and Salman Al Belawi, director at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, were also present to welcome the pilgrims.

Ambassador Delwar Hossain conveyed his best wishes to the pilgrims and assured them that the Bangladesh Embassy, Consulate, and Hajj Mission would remain available to assist them throughout their pilgrimage.

The arriving pilgrims expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and well-organised management at the airport.

This year, a total of 87,100 people from Bangladesh are expected to perform Hajj.
