Dead dolphin washes ashore on Padma River in Rajshahi

A dead dolphin washed ashore on the Padma River in Rajshahi's Talaimari Balurghat area this afternoon (25 April).
"Based on the condition of the body, officials believe it died two to three days ago, likely due to injuries sustained from a collision with a water vessel," Rajshahi Wildlife Inspector Jahangir Kabir told The Business Standard.
"The body had started decomposing and was emitting a foul odor. Parts of the head and back had been scavenged, and flies and insects were swarming the area. To prevent the spread of germs, we decided to bury the carcass immediately," Kabir said.
"The dolphin was male and approximately one year old. It measured about three feet in length," he added.
