Task force formed to probe ICT irregularities

A task force has been formed to investigate irregularities and corruption in various projects within the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector and to prepare a white paper.
Economist Professor Niaz Asadullah will lead both the task force and the white paper committee, according to a PID release issued today (24 April).
Other members of the committee include Professor Muhammad Mustafa Hossain, legal expert Barrister Afzal Zami Syed Ali, technology expert Mahmud Salam Maruf, and journalist Md Shariat Ullah.
Technology expert Asif Shahriar Sushmit has also been included as the main coordinator.
The official gazette announcing the formation of the task force was published on 17 April.
The task force will examine all types of contracts and project DPPs executed by the ICT Division under the previous government, as well as all related audit and investigation reports.
The "ICT White Paper Task Force" is expected to submit a summary and a detailed report by 21 June.
The Information and Communication Technology Division will provide logistical and other necessary support to the task force.
