Chief Adviser (CA) Muhammad Yunus extended further humanitarian support for the earthquake victims in Myanmar during a meeting with the country's Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing in Bangkok, Thailand on the sidelines of the Sixth Bimstec summit yesterday (4 April).

"We remain ready to provide further humanitarian support. Our ships are ready," said Yunus during the meeting, according to a statement from the CA Press Wing today (5 April).

The meeting was held after Aung Hlaing, also a senior general and chairman of the State Administration Council of Myanmar, called on CA Yunus at the latter's hotel prior to his departure for Dhaka.

During the meeting, Yunus expressed condolences and sympathy to the people of Myanmar following the tragic loss of life caused by the earthquake on 28 March.

They discussed the humanitarian assistance provided by Bangladesh, including the deployment of Bangladeshi rescue teams to Myanmar in response to the disaster.

The Myanmar prime minister congratulated Yunus on assuming the chairmanship of Bimstec, hoping the regional grouping would witness a new dynamism with the Bangladesh leadership.
