Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and ex-MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar today (2 April) said that Eid was celebrated this year in a new atmosphere following a new independence.

"Awami League (AL) deprived people of their religious, political, and social rights in the last 16 years. We remember with deep respect those who sacrificed their lives due to AL oppression and pray to the Almighty Allah for the recovery of those who became wounds and disability during July-August uprising," he said.

He made the remarks at the Baniakhali High School ground as the chief guest marking the reunion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

Organised by the Jamaat-e-Islami in Sharafpur Union of Dumuria Upazila in Khulna district, local Jamaat leader advocate Abul Khaer presided over the event.

Jamaat-e-Islami Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Khulna district unit Ameer Maulana Emran Hussain, Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Munshi Moinul Islam, and Professor Mia Golam Kuddus, addressed the program as special guests.

The Jamaat secretary general said, "To establish the rule of law in the country, necessary measures must be taken to put an end to murder, rape, and extortion. Moreover, everyone must work together to establish Islamic governance in the upcoming elections to ensure an Islamic state."

He asserted, "No conspiracy can stop the progress of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. Jamaat will move forward towards its goal, Insha Allah."

"We want to build a humane Bangladesh, where there will be no discrimination between Hindus, Muslims, as well as majorities, or minorities," he added.

He urged Jamaat activists to work tirelessly for a society filled with love, compassion, and harmony. "We must follow the teachings of Ramadan throughout the rest of the 11 months. Jamaat workers must relentlessly work to build a society based on piety," he added.

Professor Mia Golam Parwar also emphasised, "Now, the greatest need is to maintain a grand national unity for the sake of national interests, the welfare of the people, and the prosperity of a new Bangladesh."
