Law enforcement officers have recovered a significant number of ballot papers from the 12th parliamentary elections at the old bungalow of the deputy commissioner in Natore.

The discovery was made around noon today (29 March) after a tip-off from a member of the National Intelligence Service (NSI).

The ballots, bearing the seals of votes cast on names and symbols of various candidates from the Natore-1 (Lalpur-Bagatipara) constituency, were found buried in a hole beneath a bamboo grove inside the bungalow premises in the Kandivita area, said Nezarat Deputy Collector (NDC) Rasedul Islam, representative of Natore DC.

Rasedul stated that officials were conducting a weapons recovery operation in a pond within the old bungalow when members of the intelligence agency spotted the ballot papers.

"Upon receiving the information, police and army personnel arrived at the scene and recovered a substantial number of ballots," he added.
The official said the ballot papers from last year's 12th national parliamentary elections had been stored at the DC's bungalow for disposal.
