15 NCP, SAD activists injured in Kushtia attack over 'committee dispute'
At least 15 leaders and activists of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and the Student Against Discrimination (SAD) were injured in Kushtia in an attack allegedly carried out by disgruntled members denied positions amid disputes over committee formation.
The attack took place around 8pm yesterday (16 March) at the Kushtia Government College grounds. Nine of the injured were admitted to the 250-bed Kushtia General Hospital.
Clashes and chases also occurred multiple times at the hospital in front of RAB and police personnel, and one individual was seen being beaten there.

According to the emergency department of the hospital, the injured individuals admitted include Mostafizur Rahman, 24, member secretary of the district Anti-Discrimination Student Movement; Sultan Maruf Talha, 45, leader of the local NCP; as well as Alvi, 25, Ibrahim Hossain, 24, Jubayer Hossain, Afridi, 22, Nayon, 20, Ali Ahsan Mujahid, 40, Sohan, and Rezwan.
Dr Hamidul Islam, a physician at the emergency department of Kushtia General Hospital, said several people have been admitted, with one in critical condition. He has suffered four head injuries.
Upon hearing the news, Kushtia district convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Hasibur Rahman, along with member secretary Mostafizur Rahman, joint conveners Sayad Islam Shrestha and Humayra Kabir Sadia, and chief organiser MD Belal Hossain Bandhan, among others, arrived at the hospital.
Leaders and activists of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens' Party have demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the attack.
Abdul Alim, investigation officer of Kushtia Model Police Station, said the situation is under control, and additional forces have been deployed.
