The brutally murdered Bangladesh-American entrepreneur Pathao Cofounder Fahim Saleh was laid to rest at a New York cemetery on Sunday.

About 80 family members and friends joined his burial held amid strict security at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery situated at Orange County of the city, the New Age reports citing Bangladesh diplomatic sources in New York.

Fahim Saleh, co-founder of Pathao and CEO of Gokada, was found decapitated and dismembered on July 14 inside his luxury condo on East Houston Street. Authorities revealed on Thursday that Saleh was stabbed to death.

Fahim was murdered a day before his body was found: Police

New York Police arrested Saleh's former personal assistant, 21 years old Tyrese Devon Haspil as a suspect of the gruesome killing. He was charged in a criminal complaint with second degree murder and other crimes.

Detectives believe that the motive behind the killing was Saleh finding out that the assistant stole tens of thousands of dollars from him. Saleh did not report the assistant and set up a repayment plan for the assistant to return the money.

Friends called Fahim 'Elon Musk of developing world'

A masked Haspil allegedly followed Saleh into his apartment elevator, tasing him as soon as the elevator opened onto Saleh's seventh-floor property. Saleh then fell to the floor, and Haspil allegedly fatally stabbed him multiple times in the torso and neck, according to the police.

Haspil then left the apartment with Saleh's body inside. The next day, he allegedly visited Home Depot to buy the saw and other supplies he is believed to have used to cut off Saleh's limbs. Haspil was allegedly in the process of chopping up Saleh's body and stashing it in construction bags when Saleh's cousin rang the apartment buzzer, prompting him to flee down the stairs.

Haspil pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, his attorneys said on Sunday. Haspil has no prior contact with the criminal justice system before his alleged involvement in the grisly murder.
