The announcement was made through a disclosure on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Wednesday (12 March). The shares will be purchased either from the public market or the block market of the Dhaka bourse.

This move follows similar announcements by Square Pharma Chairman Samuel S Chowdhury and Managing Director Tapan Chowdhury, who each declared their intention to purchase 15 lakh shares of the company earlier.

According to DSE data, between 2020 and 2025, four directors of Square Pharma collectively increased their holdings in the company by acquiring 1.06 crore shares. As a result, the combined stake of sponsors and directors in the company has risen significantly, from 34.43% to 42.91%.

This series of share acquisitions by key executives reflects their confidence in the company's growth prospects and long-term stability. Square Pharmaceuticals, a leading player in the country's pharmaceutical industry, continues to demonstrate strong performance, making it an attractive investment for its directors and shareholders alike, according to market insiders.

Meanwhile, Square Pharmaceuticals reported a 13% year-on-year growth in net profit and a 6% increase in net revenue in the first half of the current fiscal year, ending in December 2024, according to its financial report.

During the July-December period, the company's net revenue rose to Tk3,771.77 crore, up from Tk3,555.25 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year. In addition, its net profit increased to Tk1,269.64 crore from Tk1,124.59 crore.
