Mamun Mia, the key accused of Brahmanbaria ASI Amir Hossain murder, was killed in a 'gunfight' with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-14) in Machhihata union of Brahmanbaria early in the morning.

Chandan Debnath, assistant director of RAB's Bhairab camp, said, "A RAB team raided Chandpur Bazar to arrest Mamun. At that time, Mamun's associates opened fire at the RAB members, forcing them to retaliate in self-defence. Mamun was shot during the gunfight. Later, he was declared dead after being taken to the district's Sadar Hospital."

A foreign-made pistol, four rounds of ammunition and a knife were recovered from the spot, said the RAB official.
