A Dhaka court today (8 March) sent ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's adviser Salman F Rahman and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun to jail after their five-day remand in a case filed against them for killing of a man named Jisan in Jatrabari's Matuail during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Police produced them before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court after five days of remand and the investigation officer of the case, Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Kausar Hussain, applied for their detention in jail.

Following the plea, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masuma Rahman ordered their detention in jail.

Earlier, on 20 January, the court granted them a five-day remand in the case.

According to the case statement, during the movement on 20 July 2024, Jisan participated in the movement in Matuail under Jatrabari police station in the capital. He was shot dead during that time.

A murder case was been filed with the Jatrabari police station in this incident.

On 13 August last year, based on a tip-off, the police arrested Salman F Rahman from the Sadarghat area of the capital when he was fleeing by boat.

On the night of 3 September last year, the law enforcement agency arrested Abdullah Al Mamun from Uttara in the capital.
