A team from Bangladesh University of Professionals secured the first runner-up position, while North South University claimed the second runner-up spot. This year's competition was sponsored by City Group.

The judging panel for the local final comprised esteemed industry experts, including Shahidul Islam, Mohammad Golam Mostofa, Asif Khan and Kazi Raquib-Ul Huq.

The judges were present during the final presentations and the subsequent announcement of the winners. The champion, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up teams will share a combined prize pool of Tk5 lakh for their performances.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a globally renowned annual competition that offers university students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial analysis through intensive mentoring and training.

This year, the Bangladesh local competition began on 21 December 2024, with 89 teams and 332 participants from 20 universities and institutes across the country. After a rigorous evaluation process, the top 10 teams advanced to the equity research report round, and the top five teams ultimately qualified for the local final.

The winning team from the University of Dhaka conducted a comprehensive analysis of Berger Paints Bangladesh, presenting detailed buy, sell, and hold recommendations.

Their final presentation was the result of months of meticulous research, including interviews with company management, competitors, and clients, as well as extensive presentation training.

The victorious students will now represent Bangladesh in the sub-regional round in March 2025.

According to a press release, CFA Society Bangladesh congratulated all participants for their hard work and dedication, emphasising the importance of such initiatives in nurturing the next generation of financial leaders. The society also expressed gratitude to City Group for their continued support in fostering excellence in financial education and research.
