The artists want to break the silence of life caused by the pandemic
With a motto to come back to life, a group of six painters have decided to display their artworks in an exhibition at the contemporary art gallery, Shilpangan.
The artists want to break the silence of life caused by the pandemic. The participating artists at the exhibition are Afrozaa Jamil Konka, Anukul Majumdar, Azmeer Hossain, Kamal Uddin, Monjur Rashid and Tarek Amin. Beginning today, the exhibition will take place, simultaneously, online and at the gallery. The art show will remain open for all till July 29.

"Memory of Inani" by Azmeeer Hossain
This watercolour painting is an ode to monsoon. The beautiful painting shows several sail boats anchored on land by the sea. Dark cloudy skies gives the feeling of a storm hiding behind the clouds. "This is painted from my memory. I have been visiting Inani beach since 1992, and all my paintings on the beach serve as my travel diary," said Azmeer. The painting represents the present in a way. The boats stand tall in the windy weather and storm which is about to hit hard. This metaphorically represents the struggles of life during the ongoing pandemic and inspires us to be strong.
"Expression" by Monjur Rashid
One of the best artworks at the exhibition, this one captures the expression of a peacock on canvas. Blue colour dominates Monjur's canvas. The details in the peacock's expressions and figure are remarkable. As an artist Monjur usually works with human figures, however, this painting is one of those rare occasions where he experimented with the expressions of animals. "I played with the expressions of the peacock in this painting. My works at the exhibition represent our desire to fly like birds and be free during the pandemic," said Monjur.
"Earth, Air &Water" by Afrozaa Jamil Konka
As the name suggests, this beautiful artwork depicts the underwater life. The presence of various gloomy colours makes the artwork mysterious and mesmerising. Artist Afrozaa Jamil Konka paid close attention while adding the colour on the canvas for this particular art piece. Blue water, fish, green mush - everything embodies earth, air and water.
